Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has disclosed that he checked on the welfare of Ghanaians living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during his recent working visit.
In a post on his social media pages, the Minister expressed his delight after meeting Philip Degbevi, noting that he had made a full recovery after sustaining injuries from a missile attack at the Dubai Airport.
He further revealed that all three Ghanaians injured in the UAE as a result of the recent Middle East conflict are recovering well.
“I am equally glad to report that all three Ghanaians who were injured in the UAE as a result of the recent Middle East conflict are recovering quite well” he said.
The Minister commended UAE authorities for their support to the affected Ghanaians and assured that all victims would receive adequate compensation.
“The Government of Ghana commends UAE authorities for their kind support for all the Ghanaian victims.We are committed to ensuring that all victims are adequately compensated” he stated.
He emphasized that the Mahama Administration remains committed to providing consular assistance and support to Ghanaians in the Gulf region during this period of heightened tensions.
“The Mahama Administration is determined to extend consular assistance and empathy to the victims and all Ghanaians living in the Gulf countries at this period of heightened hostilities” he said.
As part of his visit, Hon. Ablakwa also met with leaders of the Ghanaian community in the UAE, assuring them of the government’s unwavering support in these challenging times.
“I also met with the leadership of the Ghanaian community and assured them of the strong solidarity of their Government in these turbulent times. There are about 60,000 Ghanaians living in the UAE with varying backgrounds including pilots, engineers, teachers, business executives, domestic workers and hospitality professionals. I commend our Ambassador and the Consul General for the great job they are doing. For God and Country 🇬🇭 🙏🏾” he wrote.
