About six hundred individual’s settler farmers have been displaced at Dawhenya in the Ningo Prampram District as a result of the Dawhenya dam over flow.
The flooding which started on Monday displaced some section of residents rendering them stranded as most of their belongings had been washed away. The affected residents are calling on authorities to come to their aid.
In an interview with the reporter from Ahotor FM in Accra, our reporter Albert Cheetham, who was with the team led by Member of Parliament of Nigo Hon. Samuel Nartey George said he was disappointed how the state and law enforcement agencies cannot stand up to prevent this unfortunate incident from happening.
The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George who visited the area to see what can be done to assist the people. He said the irresponsible attitude on the part of government to allocate or sold the lands to foreigners and other private developer’s is very unfortunate.
He talked about some immediate measures that need to be done, where the state must redesign the landscape for proper demarcation and layout for the settlers and any new future development going on in the area, to save lives and properties.
The NADMO District Office for Ningo Prampram, Micheal Tei Eku also stated that some measures have been put in place by NADMO intends to take to provide relieve package to the affected persons.
