Zanetor Rawlings Hails Father’s Enduring Legacy of Courage, Discipline and Service

Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Dr Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, has paid glowing tribute to her late father, former President Jerry John Rawlings, describing him as a leader whose life was anchored in courage, discipline and an unwavering commitment to Ghana.

According to Dr Agyemang-Rawlings, her father’s love for the nation went beyond rhetoric, manifesting in personal sacrifice, firm principles and a relentless pursuit of justice. She noted that he possessed a deep respect for the dignity of the ordinary Ghanaian and consistently placed the hopes, struggles and aspirations of the people at the centre of his public service.

She said former President Rawlings exemplified a rare brand of leadership defined by bravery—not only in moments of triumph, but more importantly when faced with difficult and often unpopular decisions taken in the national interest.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, January 20, Dr Agyemang-Rawlings emphasised that her father stood firmly for accountability, integrity and national pride, repeatedly reminding Ghanaians that the country must always come first, above personal comfort or gain.

Although he is no longer alive, she noted that the values he lived by continue to inspire and challenge the nation. According to her, his legacy remains alive in ongoing national conversations on leadership, responsibility and service, and in the enduring belief that a just, disciplined and united Ghana is still a goal worth striving for.
