The Ghana Police Service, Under the Leadership of IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Concluded the Year 2025 on a High Note

Police officers across the country have actively participated in nationwide security outreach activities as part of the annual inter-agency security operational outreach campaigns, contributing significantly to crime prevention and public safety.

High morale among personnel of the Ghana Police Service was evident during the period, reflected in several successful crime detection operations and numerous arrests made nationwide. These efforts strengthened public confidence in law enforcement and enhanced overall security.

A major highlight of the period was the promotion of police officers to various ranks in December 2025. The promotions followed deliberations at the end-of-year Police Council meeting, where officers were assessed based on merit and performance.

According to the outcomes of the review process, officers who played key roles in investigating the 2020 and 2024 National Election Violence cases were promoted. Members of the Inspector-General of Police’s special security task force, who worked tirelessly to curb criminal activities across the country, were also recognized.

Given the longstanding challenges associated with promotions within the Ghana Police Service, the 2025 promotional exercise has been widely commended as a positive step toward rewarding diligence and professionalism.

Security analysts have expressed hope that the recognition of hard work within the Service will continue, alongside improvements in officer welfare, conditions of service, and increased government support. Calls have also been made for the introduction of a more creative and competitive remuneration structure for law enforcement agencies.

Stakeholders have urged the public to support law enforcement officers as they continue to safeguard lives and property in the interest of national development.
