John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has voiced strong criticism against the government’s recent decision to allocate funds for providing free tablets to senior high school students, condemning it as a maneuver aimed at securing votes.
Expressing his concerns during a special public lecture at the Wisconsin International University College in Ghana, Mahama highlighted the neglect of crucial ongoing educational initiatives due to the government’s emphasis on tablet distribution.
The former President emphasized the need for prioritizing the allocation of state resources to address more urgent requirements within the education sector.
He remarked, “Introducing a new curriculum while neglecting to provide textbooks for basic school children over the past four years, and prioritizing tablets for pre-tertiary students, raises questions of political expediency that are apparent to all.”
