Ghanaian reggae artist Julius Amuh Sekyi, popularly known as Shasha Marley, expressed his stance against the LGBTQ bill proposed in Ghana.         

 In an interview with Obaapa Janee on Ahotor 92.3fm’s midmorning show on Friday, March 8, 2024, he emphasized that the president should not sign the bill passed by Parliament. 

He suggested that instead of imprisonment, individuals involved in LGBTQ activities should receive support from bishops and the court through prayers and deliverance.

According to him, sending people to prison won’t solve the problem, but could make it worse.

He suggested that instead of signing the law, it would be better if bishops worked together with the court to handle such cases collaboratively. He believes in the biblical principle of loving one’s neighbour as oneself and cited instances where God instructed people to refrain from condemning others, as everyone has committed similar sins.      

He further clarified that he opposes the law not because he supports LGBTQ actions, but because he believes in showing love to those involved, echoing biblical teachings about loving one’s neighbor.
