The premises of the Hospital for more than a decade has served as lecture halls for the School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the UDS in view of the fact that the lecture block for medical students at a standstill.

According to the Vice Chancellor, the school’s permanent medical school block which started 12 years ago is incomplete due to budgetary constraints faced by the university.

At the special congregation of the University, Professor Gabriel Ayum-Teye revealed that he has received a correspondence to the effect that the hospital is no longer willing to accommodate the school after almost 12 years.

He called for government’s intervention in completing the stalled project in order to accommodate the students in subsequent years bemoaning the freeze on public sector employment.

This he observed is hampering teaching and learning hinting that the university intends introducing six more programmes for the 2017/18 academic year.
