85 per cent of country’s power restored after nationwide blackout

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) says it has restored power to about 85 percent of its customers who were affected by last night’s power outage.

The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) announced earlier Thursday that the nationwide blackout which affected the country would be restored by 10am.

According to the Head of Communications at the ECG, William Boateng, although some parts of the country do not have power, it is expected that power would be restored fully in the next two hours.

He explained that the delay was a result of some challenges encountered earlier.

“Historically when the rains threaten we go through these challenges but I am expecting that things will normalize soon. We are on the ground,” he gave the assurance to Myjoyonline.com.
