”Ahotor Yi Bi Ma: Flood Victims in South Tongu District Receive Relief Thanks to Ahotor FM’s Generous Donation”

The South Tongu District in the Volta Region of Ghana experienced flooding, and Ahotor FM, a beacon of connectedness and generosity, on Friday, December 15, lent a helping hand to the affected villages in a wonderful demonstration of compassion and community support. The radio station coordinated a kind contribution drive with listeners to raise much-needed funds for those impacted by the terrible Akosombo and Kpong dam spills.

Due to the dam spill, the Volta Region has been experiencing intense flooding in recent weeks. As a result, homes have been damaged, farmlands have been inundated, and families have been forced to relocate. Ahotor FM stood up to help, realizing that helping other citizens was a collective responsibility and that the situation was urgent as the town battled to recover from the devastation.

Dubbed “Ahotor Yi Bi Ma,” the project gathered steam as Ahotor FM encouraged its partners, sponsors, and listeners to support it. The overwhelmingly positive response from the community demonstrated the strong sense of camaraderie that unites the residents of the Volta Region.

Audiences listened to special broadcasts intended to increase awareness of the difficult circumstances that their neighbours were facing. The hosts of the radio shows fervently told tales of resiliency and exhorted listeners to do whatever they could to change the world. There was a tangible sense of purpose and unity on the airwaves.

Together with Ahotor FM, local companies and kind individuals donated money, necessities, and logistical support to contribute to driving success. The community came together with such generosity that it was evident how powerful group effort can be.

On Friday, a touching ceremony at Sogakope in the South Tongu District of the Volta region marked the end of the donation campaign. Representatives from Ahotor FM, local organizations, Chiefs, and community leaders gathered to receive the relief packages on behalf of the victims in need. When the community received the tangible support from Ahotor FM, in addition to material aid, the environment was fraught with emotion.

The Constituency’s MP, Honorable Kobla Mensah Wisdom Woyome, stated the following after receiving the items:
