Deputy Finance Minister Abena Osei Asare has defended Ghana’s economic policy and growth.
She has assured Ghanaians that the government is committed to safeguarding the economic stability that is being experienced.
She said the government is committed to strong fiscal consolidation and efficient management of existing commitments.
The government is hoping to spend a total of ¢226.7 billion in 2024.
This will represent 21.6 percent of Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Speaking in parliament during the 2024 Budget presentation, Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta explained that the projection reflects a reduction of 6.1 percentage points of GDP in total expenditures (commitment basis) relative to the outturn in 2022.
Abena Osei Asare is of the view that the policies put in place by the government will surely revive the economy.

But the Member of Parliament for Yapei Kusawgu constituency John Jinapor described the 2024 budget as empty.
