The Member of Parliament for Krowor constituency, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey has expressed worry about how government is handling the rebuilding of the La General Hospital.
According to her, the health needs of the people cannot be taken for granted hence she expected a swift move from government on this matter but the reverse seems to be the case.
Speaking in an interview this morning, November 20, 2023 on ‘Adekye Mu Nsem’ hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu airborne on Ahotor FM (92.3), she indicated that, the hospital did not only serve La residents but surrounding communities including her constituency.
In July 2020, the La General Hospital facility was demolished after the hospital’s administration, in 2015, reported severe structural problems.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on August 10, 2020, cut the sod for the commencement of construction of the La General Hospital Redevelopment Project.
Residents are yet to see any development of the project on site after assurance from government that contractors will be on site soon.
The Krowor law maker expressing disappointment said, “when you look at the presentation the minister responsible for health made in parliament before the budget the presentation, it was as if we are joking.
Its so painful, so sad and worrying that after 3years of demolishing La General Hospital, where the people allowed without protest with the understanding that they were going to get something better than what they had, you came to parliament to joke about it”.
