Leave our minerals in the ground, if you cannot secure the nation and its future – Bernard Mornah tells Ghanaian leaders

Former National Chairman of People’s National Convention (PNC) Bernard Mornah is of the view that, if our leaders cannot secure the nation and its future today, then they should leave our minerals underground because future generations will need them to better the country.

According to him, Liberia secured 34% of oil ownership after discovering oil in their country while Uganda secured 35%, but when it comes to our country Ghana, we own only 13 % of ownership as a country.

Speaking to Accra-based media monitored by @Ahotoronline.com; Bernard Mornah said leaders of the country have sold everything that belongs to the country which is very bad and unfortunate.

He indicated that, from Ashanti Goldfield in the Ashanti region, Akwatia Diamond in the Eastern region, and others, we do not own anything as a country with huge natural resources within the mineral sector.

“The NDC under President JJ Rawlings sold almost 25% of Ashanti Goldfields and under President JA Kuffour, they sold the remaining 30%, nothing more” he added.

Bernard Mornah said the leaders should understand their actions are leading to massive unemployment, especially on the side of the youth in the country.
