Ashanti Regional Communication Officer of National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abass Nurudeen has indicated that, the President’s ‘vote’ comment on the flood victims of the people of Volta region is unacceptable and demeaning of a president who is expected to act with decorum.
According to him, he (President Nana Addo) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has so much hatred for the people of the Volta region.
He (Nurudeden) narrated how the people of the Volta region were humiliated during the registration for the Ghana card by the National Identification Authority (NIA).
The President on Monday, October 16, stirred controversy when he subtly reminded some victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage at Mepe in the Volta Region about the fact that he ( Nana Addo) had visited to sympathise with them regardless of the fact that the residents do not vote for his Party.
The flooding from the Akosombo and Kpong hydro dams has forced many communities in the North, South, and Central Tongu districts of the Volta region to evacuate, leaving them with no choice but to try and salvage what is left of their belongings.
Commenting on Adekye Nsromma and monitored by @Ahotoronline.com, Mr Nurudeen said, of the 700,000 voters in the region 100,000 voted for NPP and Nana Addo in the 2020 elections, without which the NPP would have been in opposition.
He called on president Nana Addo to desist from such unsavory comments.
‘Why is the NPP always on the nerves of Voltarians’, he asked.
