(AUDIO): BOG GHC 60.8 Billion loss can pay NABCO beneficiaries for 60 years – Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe

Private legal practitioner Lawyer Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe has indicated that the 2022 annual loss of the Bank of Ghana (BOG) which sums up to GHC60.8 billion can pay beneficiaries of the government’s flagship initiative Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) for sixty (60) years and more.
According to him, youth employment should be a priority for politicians due to the nature o how people are been stranded day in and day out in the country
Speaking in an interview monitored by Ahotoronline.com, the Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama said, “With all the amount given to the government by the Bank of Ghana, the NABCO initiative could not be sustained. So, therefore, where has all the money gone to?”, he asked.
He indicated that the reason the government failed in NABCO was because of a lack of funds but BOG is telling Ghanaians that they have given this government a huge amount of 60 billion so where is the money?
In 2018, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo launched the NABCo initiative to employ some 100,000 jobless graduates.
The program operates seven modules designed to meet the pressing needs of the nation while providing jobs for the teeming youth who have received tertiary education but are struggling to find jobs.
The beneficiaries were engaged for three years and earned a monthly stipend of GH¢700 each.
The three-year-long contract with over 100,000 beneficiaries under six modules ended in October 2021.
But the government instructed various agencies to maintain these beneficiaries as steps were taken to finalize their exit.
Amongst the options for the beneficiaries were for them to be maintained, continue their education, or venture into their own businesses.
But the trainees are complaining that the government is not paying attention to those who want to be maintained.
