Kotoko sack Coach Lugarusic
Former Premier League Champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, have sacked 52-year-old Croatian trainer Zdravko Lugarusic, after 11 matches in the ongoing league.
Coach Lugarusic’s assistant and former player of the club, Godwin Ablordey takes a temporary charge of the club until a substantive helmsman is appointed.
In an audio message copied the Daily Graphic, the club’s communications manager, Obed Acheampong said the two parted ways on mutual grounds.
Despite helping the club to occupy the second spot on the 16-club league on 19 points, Lugarusic was chased out of the club’s Ajako Jachie training grounds last Friday by irate fans.
He has been criticised for his ‘unfriendly’ 3-5-2 system which many say is the main contributing factor to the team’s sudden decline in performance.
Indeed, Sunday’s dismissal was a reenactment of the coach’s two previous engagements in Ghana with Kumasi-based King Faisal Babies and AshGold of Obuasi.
He is known to be a poor first round performer in the league in his two previous stints.
Angry fans nearly vented their spleen on the coach and the playing body last Sunday after the second home drawn game but for the swift intervention of the Asokwa police team.
