Otto Addo to Unveil Black Stars Roster for Asia Friendlies This Week – GFA’s Henry Asante Twum

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is intensifying preparations for the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with head coach Otto Addo poised to name his squad by the end of this week for two prestigious international friendlies in Asia.

The announcement timeline was confirmed by GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum during an exclusive interview with Joy Sports.

“Tentatively, we are looking at the end of this week or the weekend to confirm who will be in the squad and the full complement of the team,”

“The plan is for the advanced team to depart Accra on Friday for Japan, followed by the rest of the technical team.”

“I don’t know yet if there will be local players. Depending on their number, they will hopefully travel on Sunday to Japan. We will then receive the players after their respective matches on Tuesday.”

The Black Stars are scheduled to face Japan on November 14 in Yokohama, followed by a clash against South Korea on November 18.

These matches, organized under FIFA’s international window, provide crucial high-intensity exposure against technically disciplined and physically robust opponents—ideal for testing formations, player combinations, and tactical flexibility.

Coach Otto Addo is expected to blend experienced campaigners with emerging talents from both the domestic Ghana Premier League and Europe’s top divisions. Key names likely under consideration include captain Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey, in-form forward Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo and goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, alongside potential debutants who impressed in recent national team training camps.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the official squad list, which will be published on the GFA’s digital platforms and social media channels.
