A deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Barbara Serwaa Asamoah has opined on Ahotor 92.3 FM’s morning show, Adekye Mu Nsem, that President Akufo-Addo is bent on staying in power as President even if it means presiding over an empty Ghana after the December elections.

She stated that the NPP government has secured a sizeable amount of funding to fight the Covid 19 pandemic in addition to accruing enough funding from corporate Ghana.

The NDC deputy scribe asserted that the NPP is not showing enough commitment to the fight against the corona virus but their interest lies in galvanising resources towards political supremacy come the 2020 polls.

She underscored the need for government to ensure proactive methods in curtailing the spread of the pandemic.

Barbara Asamoah indicated that there seems to be a growing culture of silence on the part of the citizenry due to government’s serialised attack on some political actors who have contrary opinions on the EC and government’s measures in tackling the Covid 19 pandemic.

The deputy general secretary told the host Citizen Kofi Owusu that government must endeavour to support the masses with cogent sensitisation programmes aimed at controlling the spread of the disease in the country.

She emphasised that government should ensure the maintenance of the hygiene protocols at the various transport terminals in addition to the commercial zones to boost containment of the pandemic especially as the rain has set in.

The NDC deputy General Secretary stressed on the need for President Akufo-Addo to exhibit humane leadership and desist from getting on the nerves of people who disagree with the governance style of his administration.

She also called on well meaning Ghanaians to rise to the occasion in building the democratic frontiers of the Nation.

She took a swipe at the Electoral Commission and the chairperson Jean Mensah for abusing the tenets establishing the EC. Madam Asamoah also called on the moral voice of society to intervene in the raging impasse between the Commission and opposing political parties.

The NDC deputy scribe noted that posterity will judge any body who intentionally acts arbitrarily and plunges the country into chaos and turmoil.
