Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has directed newly recruited health professionals to report to their assigned health facilities by August 20, 2026, warning that those who fail to meet the deadline could have their appointments terminated.
The directive comes as the government moves to address staffing shortages affecting health facilities across the country. The Ministry of Health says financial clearance has been secured for the recruitment of 8,000 health professionals, while efforts are ongoing to secure additional clearance for more recruits.
Mr. Akandoh urged the newly recruited health workers to report to their posts and serve with dedication, saying their deployment is part of efforts to close critical staffing gaps and improve healthcare delivery. He stressed that the government wants to ensure health facilities have the personnel needed to provide timely and quality services to patients.
The Minister also cautioned the recruits against failing to take up their postings, emphasising that the August 20 deadline must be respected. He said those who fail to report by the stipulated date risk losing the opportunity to serve under the current recruitment exercise.
