“One of the key promises we made during the 2024 election campaign was the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy Policy. The policy has been presented to Parliament, and a clear roadmap has been established to begin registering businesses that are interested in participating in the programme,” President Mahama stated.

The President expressed confidence that the policy would create sustainable jobs, boost productivity, and strengthen Ghana’s economy by promoting round-the-clock economic activities.

He noted that trade remains a critical pillar of economic development and explained that the construction of modern 24-Hour Economy Model Markets is intended to facilitate continuous commercial activity and increase the circulation of money within the economy.

“The 24-Hour Economy will create jobs, stimulate productivity, and strengthen the national economy. Trade plays a critical role in the development of every successful economy, which is why we conceived the idea of constructing modern 24-Hour Economy Model Markets to promote the continuous circulation of money within the economy,” he said.

President Mahama further revealed that government has taken a strategic decision to construct similar modern markets in districts across the country, with Assin North becoming one of the latest beneficiaries of the initiative.

“Recognising the importance of commerce and trade, we have decided to build modern 24-Hour Economy Markets in all districts across the country, and today it is the turn of the people of Assin North to benefit from this initiative,” he added.

The President disclosed that the Assin Breku market will be developed into a state-of-the-art commercial hub with facilities designed to support both traders and consumers while ensuring safety, convenience, and efficiency.

The project will feature a police station, a fire station, lockable stores, open trading spaces for traders, cold storage facilities, two restaurants, butcher shops, a 24-hour banking facility, warehouses, a daycare centre, a clinic staffed by nurses, a pharmacy, washrooms and bathrooms, waste treatment facilities, and a modern lorry station.

The market is expected to serve as a catalyst for economic growth in the district by creating employment opportunities, improving trading conditions, and enhancing commercial activities within Assin North and its surrounding communities.

President Mahama is undertaking a two-day #ResettingGhana Tour of the Central Region from Friday, June 26 to Saturday, June 27, 2026, where he is expected to inspect ongoing projects, engage local communities, and outline his administration’s development agenda for the region.
