Kurt Okraku pleased with Black Stars squad for Austria, Germany friendlies — Asante Twum

Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum, has disclosed that FA President Kurt Okraku is satisfied with the Black Stars squad selected for the upcoming pre-World Cup friendlies against Austria and Germany.

Head coach Otto Addo named a 26-man squad for the March international window, blending experienced players with fresh talent as Ghana intensify preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Key figures such as Thomas Partey, Inaki Williams, and Jordan Ayew headline the squad, providing leadership and experience.

The list also includes four first-time call-ups—Derrick Luckassen, Patrick Pfeiffer, Marvin Senaya, and Daniel Agyei—highlighting the technical team’s commitment to expanding the national team pool.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Asante Twum explained that while Okraku does not interfere with technical decisions, he remains closely informed about team matters and is pleased with the final selection.

“The president [Kurt Okraku] is the leader, and he has interests across-board. Interest as in not telling them what to do, but interest as in knowing what is happening,” he said.

“He has been part of all the engagement, but not to direct which players play, and I can say he is happy with the squad.”

Ghana will open their friendly schedule against Austria on March 27 at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, before travelling to Stuttgart to face four-time world champions Germany on March 30.

The Black Stars are expected to continue their preparations with additional friendlies against Mexico in May and Wales in early June, as they fine-tune their squad ahead of the World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
