A 28 year old student who allegedly bit off his cousin’s ears over land litigation has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.
Ayiku Fayorse charged with offensive conduct and causing harm, has pleaded not guilty.
The court presided over by Mrs Jan Harriet Akweley Quaye admitted Fayorse to bail in the sum of GH¢30,000.00 by two sureties who are gainfully employed.
This follows an application for bail put in by Dr Eyi Acquah, a defence attorney.
Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agnes Boafo told the court that the complainant Benjamin Krabea Bortie and Fayorse are cousins and they stay in the same house at Nungua.
On August 18, this year, ASP Boafo said Fayorse built a fence wall in front of the complainant’s door making it difficult for the complainant and his family and some other tenants to enter their rooms.
The complainant, the prosecutor said approached the accused person to rescind his decision of blocking that portion of the house but accused did not listen to his plea.
According to the prosecutor the following morning, the complainant reported the matter to the Police and the Police invited the accused person through a letter.
Whiles the complainant was handing over the letter to the accused person, the accused person got angry and pounced on the complainant and in the process bit off the top part of the ear.
The complaint went to the Police station again with the bitten ear and filed another complaint.
The complainant was given a Police Medical Form to seek medical attention. When the accused was arrested he denied the offence, the Prosecutor added.
