💔 Love Rejection Ends in Tragedy: 33-Year-Old Man Allegedly Shoots Himself in Eastern Region

A 33-year-old man has allegedly taken his own life at a cocoa farm near Akyim Twereso, close to Akyem Akroso in the Eastern Region, following what sources describe as emotional distress linked to a failed marriage proposal.

According to reports, the deceased, identified as Kwaku, had been in a relationship with a young woman for about a month. He reportedly proposed marriage, but the lady’s family declined the proposal. The woman’s mother is said to have refused to disclose the reasons behind the rejection and declined to comment further on the matter.

Sources indicate that after the lady was sent back to Akyem Akroso, Kwaku became deeply distressed, allegedly struggling to cope with the rejection and what some described as embarrassment.

On Saturday evening, Kwaku reportedly took a firearm and requested a mobile phone from his mother under the pretext of making a call. He then proceeded to his cocoa farm — a property said to have been inherited from his late uncle. There, he allegedly shot himself in the throat.

An eyewitness, Yaw Amoah, claimed that Kwaku used his leg to pull the trigger.

The Ghana Police Service at Akyem Akroso has since retrieved the body and commenced investigations into the incident.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement detailing the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
