B5 Plus Ltd Expansion Aligns With Mahama’s 24-Hour Economy and Ghana’s Industrial Transformation Agenda – B5 Plus Chairman

Lakpleku, Ghana, 20 February: Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of B5 Plus Ltd, Mr. Mahesh Thakwani, has stated that the company’s latest expansion strongly aligns with Ghana’s industrial transformation agenda and President John Dramani Mahama’s visionary 24-Hour Economy programme.

According to him, the new investment goes beyond the commissioning of a factory and represents a significant expansion of Ghana’s industrial frontier, aimed at strengthening local manufacturing capacity and reducing dependence on imports.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the B5 Plus Steel Ball Mill and Section Mill manufacturing facility on Friday, February 20, Mr. Thakwani described the project as a major milestone in Ghana’s journey toward industrial self-reliance and economic growth.

He noted that although Ghana is one of Africa’s leading gold producers, the true measure of national prosperity lies not only in what is extracted from beneath the soil but also in what is built above it, emphasizing the importance of industrialization in creating sustainable wealth. He also pledged the company’s continued support for Ghana’s mining sector through the supply of locally produced steel products.

Mr. Thakwani further proposed stronger policy measures to protect and promote local industries, including reviewing import regimes on steel products to ensure that domestic manufacturing capacity is fully utilized before imports are considered.

He highlighted that for more than a decade, B5 Plus Ltd has consistently remained a member of the prestigious Ghana Club 100, demonstrating the company’s sustained performance, quality standards, and contribution to Ghana’s economic development.

Beyond its industrial operations, the company has undertaken numerous social interventions within host communities. However, the CEO appealed to government for land to construct a police station to enhance security and safety in the area. He called on the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, to support efforts to secure land for both a police station and a school to serve the growing community.

Mr. Thakwani also revealed that B5 Plus Ltd is committed to expanding into large-scale industrial agriculture as part of efforts to contribute to Ghana’s food security and strengthen the agro-processing value chain.

The expansion of the facility is expected to create jobs, deepen local supply chains, and reinforce Ghana’s ambition to become a leading industrial hub in West Africa.
