On Monday the 3rd day of July 2017 at about 09:00 hours the Ashanti Regional Police received information that one Basit obolo alias outlaw and his accomplices including Short,Mustapha and taller who where involved in series of armed robbery,murder and car snatching in Ashanti and Tema regions were hiding in an uncompleted building at Aboabo a suburb of Kumasi.
Basit and his accomplices were alleged to be involved in the killing of the policeman at Tema recently.A team of policemen proceeded to the location and spotted Basit at the entrance of the said uncompleted building .
Police attempted to arrest him but his accomplices who were armed with a Taurus pistols fired at police and in the process G/CPL Frederick Tawiah who had gripped Basit,sustained gun shot wound on his left leg.
In the process Basit and three of his accomplices escaped. Police returned fire killing the one that shot at the corporal popular known as Euro aged about 25 years.
Corporal Frederick Tawiah is currently on admission at KATH receiving treatment while the body has been deposited at KATH mortuary for identification further action.
