After vanquishing West Brom on Friday, just like they have done almost every other side over the course of the season, Chelsea have finally sealed the Premier League title with 2 games left in the season. Quite the turnaround from the drama of 2016.
Substitute Batshuayi’s lone goal was not pleasing to the eye, but it is all Antonio Conte’s men needed reclaim the trophy they last won in 2015. The Italian has now become the fourth Italian manager, after Carlo Ancelotti, Roberto Mancini and Claudio Ranieri, to win the Premier League.
After a shaky start which was marked by defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal, Conte simply turned it around with a switch to his favoured 3-4-3 formation with Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso as wingbacks. Most of the Premier League teams just could not find an answer to him as the Blues romped to the title.
With the likes of Diego Costa and Eden Hazard stepping up to the plate and Pedro looking like the player he was at Barcelona, Chelsea cut through the Premier League bigwigs to finish top by a clear mile. Only Tottenham managed to put up some fight but all they did was delay the inevitable.
Congrats, Chelsea. Lets hope the blues makes an impact in the upcoming UEFA champions league competition.
Blue is the colour.
