The Obaatan of the Nkusukum Traditional Area and a leading member of “Kwa Kumko Twidan” Royal family of Yamoransa in the Mfantseman municipality, Nana Benya III has cleared shrouds of doubt that hitherto overshadowed the status of Nana Okesse Essandoh IX otherwise known as Nicholas BINEY, the newly installed substantive chief of Yamoransa township and purported Omanhen of NKUSUKUM Traditional Area.
This development came up on the heels of recent Press conference held by some disgruntled Nkusukum Nananom against the installation of Nana Okesse Essandoh IX as Omanhen for the area which was said to have distorted historical facts regarding the right to the Nkusukum paramountcy.
Earlier, explaining the purpose for the Press conference in response to the one recently organized by the Traditional council at Saltpond , the family historian and spokesman, Nana Benya III, who doubles as Nkusukum Obaatan took a swipe at the said conference which he described as needless, inappropriate and unfortunate as it sought to not only deepen wounds but also it distorted historical facts hence the need to counter that to set records straight posterity and general public.
According to him, Nana Okesse Essandoh IX was the true heir of Nkusukum Paramountcy of which right he claimed was exclusively preserved for descendants of Kwa Kumko Twidan Royals of Yamoransa with the stool name as ” Okesse Essandoh ”
He therefore discounted the validity of the enthronement of Nana Kofi Enyan aka Kelvin Ewudzi as Nkusukum Omanhen which he said was inappropriately done as was not from the Twidan Royal family.
” I want to place on record that the said Nana Kofi Enyan was only installed as Mputuhen of Yamoransa ” he said and wondered as to how somebody once installed as Mputuhen could suddenly turn around to hold himself as Omanhen”, saying “this is the situation that we find ourselves involved and which needs to be clarified” he told the gathering.
However, it is gathered from documentation evidence made available to Press that in an affidavit filed by one Opanyin Kwakwa who claimed as the overall head of the Anaafo Twidan Royal family of Yamoransa which alluded to the Nana Obaayan’s claims that the said Nana Kofi Enyan alias Kelvin Ewudzi traces his ancestry from Moree in the Asebu Traditional area and therefore could never become an Omanhen of Nkusukum traditional area.
“He (Nana Kofi Enyan) is not eligible to be nominated, elected, confined and installed as Omanhen of Nkusukum Traditional Area under any circumstances “he said.
Nana Obaatan Benya III further said that the aforementioned installation was devoid of customary rights as it was done under cover and allegedly influenced by monetary consideration perpetrated by certain elements among the traditional council while pinpointed Nana Kwesi Brebo III, the Acting president as the one who spearheaded the deal for selfish ambition.
He therefore advised him (Nana Kwesi Brebo III) and his hunchback who he noted have turned themselves into Chieftaincy contractors to refrain from such unethical conduct since the practice debase sanctity of chieftaincy.
”To this end, I want to caution those busybody chiefs who have turned themselves into chieftaincy contractors including Nana Kwesi Brebo III and Nana Kow Abonko in particular and others to desist from such uncalled for behavior before they are caught pants down like a spider in their own webs” saying he is several prepared to engage anyone at any given time to seek for a redress.
