The Zoomlion Ghana Limited is blaming the Youth Employment Authority YEA for the low remuneration paid to its sweepers.
According to the company the ghc250 a month it pays the sweeper is what the YEA has mandated it through their agreement to pay.
This is coming on the back of the demand by the CEO of the YEA who wants its board to demand the suspension of its agreement of Zoomlion as hundreds of sweepers are still owed for more than a year
The Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs of Zoomlion, Ghana, Emma Adwoa Appiah Osei-Duah has admitted to delays in the payment of sanitation workers, specifically sweepers.
The delay in payment, according to the company, is due to the nature of the contract with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), which requires Zoomlion to pre-finance payments before being reimbursed
She clarified that the unpaid period is not up to a year but nine months.
Emma Adwoa Appiah Osei-Duah said the YEA must be blamed not Zoomlion
