Ghanaian media personality Mona Gucci has taken a hard swipe at TikTok influencers, warning them to stop parading themselves as celebrities.
In a video making rounds on X (formerly Twitter), Mona didn’t mince words as she criticized TikTokers for overstepping their boundaries and claiming celebrity status.
She insisted that having followers on social media does not automatically make one a celebrity or an entertainer of national relevance.
“TikTokers, you are not celebrities. If everyone fears telling you, then let me do that,” she said. “If you are a brand influencer, please influence your people on your page. The number of followers you have are the only people you influence. You don’t influence anything or anybody in Ghana.”
Her comments quickly escalated as she mocked some influencers’ fashion and content styles, adding, “Apart from braiding your hair and a man dressing like a girl, what else do you do?”
Mona Gucci emphasized that TikTok influencers should stay humble and stop disrespecting established stars. “If persuasion to stop you from disrespecting the A-list celebrities fails, force will be applied,” she warned.
She concluded by highlighting who she believes truly deserve the celebrity title, naming Jackie Appiah, Nana Ama McBrown, Berla Mundi, and Cookie Tee as examples of real Ghanaian celebrities.
