Young Insurance Agent Killed by Cement Truck on Apowa–Agona Nkwanta Highway

A tragic road accident occurred on Saturday, 6th December 2025, along the Apowa–Agona Nkwanta Highway, claiming the life of 29-year-old Esther Amoah, an insurance agent. Esther was struck by a cement truck while attempting to cross the busy highway after visiting her younger brother at St. Mary’s Boys Senior High School. The impact was fatal, and she died instantly at the scene.

According to eyewitness accounts, Esther was confused by two oncoming vehicles when she stepped onto the road. Isaac Conduah, who was present at the scene, recalled in an interview with a local radio station in Takoradi that Esther, still holding a food flask she had brought to her brother, tried to cross but was struck by the truck bearing registration number AS 630 P. The shock and suddenness of the accident left bystanders stunned.

Immediately after the accident, those nearby checked Esther’s belongings and were able to contact her family using information found in her identity cards. The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the community, especially among students and residents near St. Mary’s Boys SHS, who mourn the untimely loss of a young professional.

Meanwhile, the driver of the cement truck has been taken into custody and is cooperating fully with the police as investigations continue. Authorities urge motorists and pedestrians alike to exercise heightened caution on the roads to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
