The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress NDC John Dramani Mahama has criticized Akufo Addo’s administration alleging that it cannot account for the $13.5billion Eurobond borrowed in the last 6years.
Mr. Mahama asserted that, this substantial amount could have been utilized for infrastructure development across the country.
He said president Akufo Addo blamed the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing Russia- Ukraine war for the collapse of the Ghanaian economy and which is leading to hardships, high cost of living and the collapse of businesses.
President Akufo-Addo also argued that the country is currently servicing debts that were not contracted by his administration, insisting, they have not been reckless in borrowing and in spending.
Mr. Mahama disagrees and makes the point that the president is always quick to shift blame instead of taking responsibility.
According to him that explains why the president does not appreciate the extent of the challenges confronting the country today.
Mr. Mahama stated that, Ghana’s current economic challenges should be attributed to the New Patriotic Party NPP
