It was a remarkable and emotional moment when actor John Peasah, best known for his role as Drogba in the popular YOLO television series, graced the stage at the Christ Embassy’s Airport City crusade in Accra on Friday, August 30, 2024.
He shared his incredible journey to healing, leaving the large congregation in awe. Drogba, who has been battling a myriad of health challenges, bravely spoke about his struggle with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare condition that had severely limited his ability to enjoy public spaces and large gatherings for the past four years.
The debilitating effects of the syndrome, including pain, double vision with his right eye, and the need to wear a face mask in crowds, had taken a toll on his life.
Accompanied by his sister, Drogba recounted his journey, shedding light on the agonizing reality of living with a condition that made it nearly impossible for him to walk freely in public.
However, at the Friday Miracle Night service, an extraordinary change took place. For the first time in four years, Drogba found himself walking confidently among the crowd, his symptoms miraculously alleviated. Addressing the congregation, Drogba expressed his gratitude and amazement at the unexpected improvement in his condition.
He disclosed that he had been attempting to connect with others suffering from Stiff Person Syndrome in Ghana, only to find himself as the first Ghanaian to be diagnosed with this rare disorder.
Despite the challenges, his resilience and determination to seek healing had led him to this life-changing moment. In addition to Stiff Person Syndrome, Drogba has been waging an arduous battle with a rare neurological disorder causing muscle rigidity and spasms, as well as a separate condition affecting coordination and balance. His unwavering courage in the face of chronic vision problems, tremors, and dizziness has been an inspiration to many.
Throughout his health struggles, Drogba has been candid about the immense financial burden of his medical treatment.
The exorbitant costs had prompted him to launch a GoFundMe campaign, aiming to raise $280,000 for international treatment. With his resources depleted by the high expenses of care, Drogba’s openness about his challenges has raised public concern and garnered support from well-wishers.
The miraculous turn of events at the Christ Embassy’s Airport City crusade has not only brought hope to Drogba and his loved ones but has also served as a testament to the power of faith, resilience, and the healing capabilities of the human spirit.
