Moses Armah Parker, the prominent Ghanaian football administrator, businessman and president of Medeama SC, has provided a detailed account of the financial arrangements surrounding the Black Stars Management Committee’s involvement in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking candidly in an interview with Medeama FM, the man widely known as Parker clarified the precise nature of the payments received by those charged with overseeing the senior national team’s campaign in the expanded tournament hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
According to Parker, every member of the Black Stars Management Committee was paid an appearance fee of fifty thousand United States dollars. He explained that this sum represented exactly half of the appearance fee awarded to each player selected for the final squad.
While the players each collected one hundred thousand dollars for simply featuring at the finals, the committee members were limited to the lower figure. Parker was careful to emphasise that the payment stopped there. Unlike arrangements that may have applied in previous competitions or to other personnel within the wider technical and administrative setup, the management committee received neither a daily per diem allowance nor any form of winning bonus linked to the team’s results on the pitch.
The revelation arrives in the context of Ghana’s unexpected progress at the tournament. Entering the finals among the lower-ranked sides, the Black Stars managed to advance beyond the group stage and into the Round of 32, marking their first appearance in the knockout phase in a decade.
That achievement had earlier prompted Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams to signal that the management committee would be recognised financially for its role in securing qualification and supporting the campaign. Parker’s account indicates that the fifty-thousand-dollar appearance fee constituted the sole remuneration ultimately provided to the committee members for their service throughout the competition.
Parker went further still, disclosing a personal decision regarding the use of his own share of the funds. He revealed that a portion of the fifty thousand dollars he received was given as offerings to the pastors who had prayed for him individually and for the Black Stars as a collective throughout the duration of the World Cup.
In making this public, the Medeama bankroller underscored a spiritual dimension to his experience of the tournament, framing the financial gesture as an expression of gratitude for the intercessory support he believed had accompanied the team’s efforts.
The figure stands in contrast to payments reported from earlier World Cups. In 2022, for instance, another management committee member had spoken of significantly higher individual sums. For the 2026 edition, however, the structure was clearly different: a fixed, reduced appearance fee for the committee, with no additional performance-related incentives or daily stipends.
