Where In the World Can You Find MPs Turn Chamber into Marching Ground? – Minority MPs Slammed

Former Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan has descended heavily on the NDC Minority in Parliament over their conduct in the Legislative House on Tuesday, October 22.

The Minority occupied the majority chamber following the Speaker’s declaration of four seats vacant while the Majority boycotted the House.

Though the Supreme Court has stayed the Speaker’s order, the Minority insist they are the Majority in Parliament, hence have refused to heed the court ruling.

In the absence of the Majority, the members of the Minority Caucus engaged in a march on the floor of the House.

Speaking in a media interview, Kwamena Duncan scolded the Minority MPs over their behavior which he found to be unparliamentary.

“I ask myself when there come the time when they will march to the Supreme Court and turn the place also into a marching ground. When will there come the time when they will march to the Jubilee House and turn that place into a marching ground…Can you point to me any Parliament elsewhere where Members of Parliament have turned the chamber into a marching ground?”, he slammed the Minority.

The former Minister further rebuked them for disobeying the Supreme Court stating “if the confidence and trust in the justice system, if it breaks down today, we have no Ghana”.

He maintained that “the order or declaration made by the Supreme Court, it must be enforced”.
