NDC running mate shock of parents’ quietness on the challenges of the current academic calendar

Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, running mate to John Dramani Mahama, has voiced concern over the lack of parent-led protests against the challenges posed by Ghana’s current academic calendar.

She expressed surprise that parents have not taken a stronger stance, despite the difficulties they face due to what she describes as an ineffective schedule that hinders students’ education.

Speaking to NDC supporters during her Ashanti Region tour, Prof. Opoku-Agyeman argued that the existing academic structure—where students are in school for two months and then home for up to four months—fails to provide a stable learning environment, questioning how such intermittent schooling benefits students’ futures.

She urged parents to take a stand, stating that parents’ voices could push the government to reform the calendar in favor of better educational outcomes.

Encouraging voters to consider the NDC’s track record in education, she claimed that the NDC would implement policies more supportive of students’ academic success and wellbeing.

She concluded by calling on parents to support the NDC in the upcoming election to secure a brighter future for Ghana’s youth.
