Greater Accra Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Shai-Osudoku, Linda Akweley Obenewaa Ocloo, has supported more than 860 students from the constituency who are preparing to begin their Senior High School (SHS) education.
The initiative, aimed at easing the financial burden on parents and guardians, saw each beneficiary receive essential items including a mattress, school trunk, chop box, blanket, bunkers and mosquito net.
According to the MP, the gesture was not merely a donation but an expression of care and commitment to the educational aspirations of young people in the constituency.
She acknowledged the financial pressure many families face when preparing their children for SHS and said the initiative was intended to help parents cope with some of the costs associated with sending their children to school.
“As a mother and as the Member of Parliament for Shai-Osudoku, I carry a special responsibility towards the young people of our constituency. Their dreams matter to me. Their education matters to me. And their future matters to me,” she said.
Mrs Ocloo urged the students to approach their new chapter with confidence, discipline and determination, while encouraging them to study hard, respect their teachers and make responsible choices.
“Your journey is only beginning and I believe there are great things ahead of you,” she told the students.
She also assured parents and guardians that she would continue to support initiatives aimed at reducing the burden on families and improving the welfare and prospects of children in the constituency.
The MP prayed for God’s protection and guidance for the students and expressed optimism that their education would position them to contribute meaningfully to the development of Shai-Osudoku.
“When we invest in our children, we are investing in the future of Shai-Osudoku. And that is a future worth fighting for,” she said.
