Abdul Razak Yakubu, a former parliamentary aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ayawaso Central Constituency, has taken a swipe at the sitting Member of Parliament, Hon. Henry Quartey, accusing him of failing to deliver meaningful development in the constituency.
Speaking at a campaign rally, Abdul Razak criticized the incumbent MP, alleging that his contributions to the constituency have been limited to distributing food during election periods to secure votes. “He only shares food on election day, and after winning, we see no real development in Ayawaso Central,” he claimed.
Razak further lambasted the government’s policies, including the controversial E-Levy and the recently introduced betting tax, which he described as burdensome to ordinary Ghanaians. Using these issues to attack the sitting MP, he urged constituents to reject Henry Quartey and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Calling for change, Abdul Razak passionately advocated for the NDC, asserting that the party has the leadership and expertise needed to transform the lives of Ghanaians. “The NDC has the men to make life better for every Ghanaian. We will ensure that your needs are met and that this constituency finally sees the development it deserves,” he said.
With just hours left before the 2024 general elections, Abdul Razak reminded voters to support the NDC presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, and parliamentary candidate Yakubu Tubazu. “Remember JDM is number 8 on the ballot, and Tubazu is number 3. Let’s vote for the NDC to bring real change to Ayawaso Central and Ghana as a whole,” he urged.
His remarks have sparked discussions among constituents, with many reflecting on the state of development in the area and the need for improved representation in Parliament. As election day approaches, the race in Ayawaso Central is expected to intensify, with both parties making their final appeals to voters.
