RuffTown Records signee Wendy Shay has broken her silence following public backlash over the conduct of her young protégé, Tracy Shay, during a recent stage performance at Sista Afia’s All White Party in Koforidua.
The performance, which took place last week, sparked controversy after Tracy Shay was heard using words many described as inappropriate, drawing criticism from sections of the public who questioned Wendy Shay’s role as a mentor.
In a video response addressing fans and critics alike, Wendy Shay made it clear that she had no prior knowledge of the performance in question and did not sanction the words used by the young talent. According to the singer, she is usually very intentional about grooming Tracy Shay whenever they are scheduled to perform together and only allows her on stage during vacation periods.
Wendy Shay went further to apologise on behalf of Tracy Shay, urging the public not to direct their anger at the young girl. She explained that the responsibility should not be placed solely on Tracy, adding that her family played a role in the incident.
Despite the controversy, Wendy Shay reaffirmed her commitment to the young talent, stressing that one mistake will not define Tracy Shay’s future. In a powerful show of support, the “Survivor” hitmaker revealed that she has pledged to sponsor Tracy Shay’s education all the way through university.
“I will harness her talent till she becomes a star because I see something special in her, and I am the only one who sees that,” Wendy Shay stated confidently.
