Wenchi Young Apostles FC Boycotts Ghana Premier League Over Persistent Poor Officiating

Wenchi Young Apostles FC has taken the dramatic step of boycotting the remainder of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season due to persistent and repeated instances of poor officiating that the club believes have severely undermined their campaign and the integrity of the competition.

According to the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Gerald Damoah Domfeh, the decision stems from a pattern of questionable refereeing decisions that have repeatedly gone against Young Apostles in recent matches.

The CEO has publicly confirmed that the team will no longer participate in their scheduled fixtures, citing these ongoing issues as the primary reason for withdrawing from the league.

This move comes amid growing frustration among several clubs in the Ghana Premier League regarding the standard of refereeing, with Young Apostles becoming the latest — and perhaps most extreme — to voice their discontent through direct action.

The boycott announcement has sparked widespread discussion across Ghanaian football circles, with reports emerging from multiple media outlets and social media platforms highlighting the club’s stance.

While the Ghana Football Association has yet to issue an official response to the development, the situation underscores deeper concerns about officiating quality, consistency, and fairness in the top flight. Young Apostles, based in Wenchi and competing in their debut Premier League season after earning promotion, had shown competitive promise earlier in the campaign but now face an uncertain future as a result of this bold protest.
