Welfare efforts are undertaking to the affected teachers by the Akosombo Dam spillage to return to classroom – G.E.S.

The Volta Regional Ghana Education Service G.E.S is implementing measures to return displaced teachers to the classroom.

The initial data indicated that approximately 10,985 children were affected. However, as of October 25, 2023, the figures revealed that 17,287 children have been affected by the spillage. The figure comprised 8,304 males and 8,983 females.

The initiative comes in response to the member of parliament for North Tongu constituency Samuel Okudzato Ablakwa calling for the affected teachers to be giving incentives to resume their roles for the continuity of teaching and learning in the constituency.

The Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, says he’s disbursed about GH¢150,000 to the Ghana Education Service in the district to clear six months’ rent advance for 167 teachers displaced by the Akosombo Dam spillage.

The MP emphasized the need to entice affected teachers to return for the continuity of teaching and learning in the district.

The Volta regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Education Service Mr. Forgive Agohar tells Ahotor news, welfare efforts are being undertaking for the affected teachers.
