Kwame Opare Addo, the Communications Director of Accra Hearts of Oak, has voiced strong support for including both of the club’s goalkeepers, Benjamin Asare and Solomon Agbasi in Ghana’s final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a recent interview with Asempa FM, he stated that the club firmly desires to see both players represent the Black Stars at the tournament, emphasizing that Asare has already solidified his position as the national team’s first-choice goalkeeper, while Agbasi has demonstrated strong performances to earn his own spot.
“We want both Benjamin Asare and Solomon Agbesi for the World Cup; Asare has already cemented his place and Agbasi has proven his case”, he said.
Asare, who debuted for the Black Stars in March 2025, played a key role in all of Ghana’s World Cup qualifying matches, helping secure qualification for the event co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Despite facing limited playing time at Hearts of Oak recently due to injury recovery and competition for the starting role, Opare Addo believes Asare’s international contributions make his inclusion undeniable.
Meanwhile, Agbetsi, a former Dreams FC goalkeeper who joined Hearts and made his debut in November 2025, has impressed with consistent displays, stepping in effectively during Asare’s absence and retaining the club’s number one spot.
This advocacy comes amid ongoing discussions about squad selection for the Black Stars, with Opare Addo highlighting the depth and quality both players bring, even as the club manages internal competition between them at the domestic level.
