Kumawood actress Christiana Awuni has shared her reasons for endorsing president-elect John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 elections, stating that her support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is motivated by a genuine desire for positive change in Ghana rather than personal interests.
In an interview with Hitz FM, she addressed the misconceptions surrounding her endorsement, insisting that it was not driven by selfish motives. “Many believe we backed the NDC for selfish reasons, but that’s not true.
Our support is for the well-being of Ghana,” she explained. Awuni expressed her dissent towards the Akufo-Addo administration, citing unfulfilled promises that have impacted the film industry.
She called for lasting solutions to support the Creative Arts Industry, highlighting that it should be recognized as a crucial sector that goes beyond mere entertainment.
Alongside her, several other celebrities, including Mzbel, DKB, Mr. Beautiful, Nero X, and Big Akwes, also publicly declared their support for the NDC ahead of the general elections on December 7, 2024.
