The Executive Director for African Center for Health Policy and Research, Dr Thomas Anaba has says the country didn’t put down effective measures to tackle covid-19 well from the beginning when the first two cases were recorded.
Dr. Anaba added that our borders should have been closed immediately with the imposition of mandatory quarantine of any anyone returning into the country.
“Immediately you enter the country from the beginning you go through the process of testing, when you test positive we have you quarantine. If negative, we allow you to go, but people were tested and allowed to go home and await their result, if such a person has the virus and has not been confirmed will spread it by the time the result will be out.” he said
The lifting of the lockdown too didn’t help us’. He added.
Dr Thomas in an interview on Ahotor 92.3 fm also said “we should not lift any measures again.
The President in his seventh address to the nation on measures taken against the spread of the corona virus, lifted the 3 weeks restriction on movements in the Greater Accra Greater Kumasi metropolis and Kasoa in the Central Region.
Dr Anaba believes further consultations with the medical fraternity would not be out of place to prevent further escalation of the pandemic.
He, the President should sit with his scientists and come out with a strategy, until then let’s keep the current measures, let identify hotspot and target a lockdown and speak to the market women especially to understand the importance of this measures.
