We budgeted $8.5 million but we spent less – Sports Minister revealed
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif has revealed that $3,007,061.81 million was spent for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations although they budgeted for $8.5million for the whole tournament.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, Hon Mustapha Ussif revealed that the initial budget for the tournament was $8.506,450 million, with $5,007,840.36 million disbursed by the Finance Ministry to cover various expenses such as per diems, flights, medicals, equipment, logistics, and hospitality.
Hon Mustapha Ussif gave the breakdown of spending $3,007,061.81 out of the $5,007,840.36 saving a surplus of $2,177, 720.55 left after the Black Stars exited from the tournament in the Group Stage which the money will be deposited back into Government.
