MP for Ketu South in the Volta Region Hon.Abla Dzifa Gumashie says they are waiting for President Nana Akufo-Addo to apologize to the Chief of Aflao after his comments on the E-BLOCKS.
Speaking on Ahotor Fm’s morning show dubbed Adekye Mu Nsem, Hon.Gumashie said she is surprise the president has not apologized.
She stated that the request of the Paramount Chief was in the best interest of all Aflao residents since it would serve the community well because the building is 90% complete.
According to her, the President has also never made such comments to Paramount Chiefs who ask him for roads, schools and other social amenities.
“Would our President say this to just any other Paramount Chief? Paramount chiefs have been asking him for roads, for electricity, for water and so on, I’ve never heard him say anything like that in jest. I’ve never heard him respond to any of them as he did to mine.”
She added that if the President’s comments were indeed made in jest, then an apology would be in order, however, the President must refrain from making comments like that.
The comment follows an interview granted by the President on Accra-based Peace FM where in addressing the Aflao chief’s concern about the E-block project, President Akufo-Addo stated that if the chief is frustrated about delay in the completion of the project then he should go and complete it himself.
Hon. Gumashie hinted the Volta caucus in parliament will have some decisions to make if the president fails to apologize to the chief of Aflao and to the people of the volta region as a whole.
