“We are sorry“ – Karim Zito Apologizes for Hohoe’s defeat

In the immediate aftermath, a visibly dejected Zito  appeared before camera with characteristic humility, extending a heartfelt apology to the Kotoko’s  passionate fanbase—a group known for their unwavering loyalty but quick to voice frustrations during slumps after a painful but historic 1-0 defeat to Hohoe United in the Volta Region on Sunday.

“Coach Karim Zito apologises to fans after Kotoko’s defeat to Hohoe United, insists title hopes still alive,” captured the essence of his remarks, blending remorse with resolve. Delving deeper into his reflections during a post-match interview, Zito didn’t shy away from self-criticism:
“We didn’t play well in the first half, and I’m not happy about that. That is why I want to apologise to the fans. We are sorry and we promise to make the necessary amendments.”

“I haven’t lost hope of winning the league, and we will bounce back stronger,” he assured.

The loss, courtesy of a well-taken goal—“Puskas worthy” in the first half through Hohoe United’s William Oduro marks Kotoko’s fourth consecutive winless outing in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season—comprising three draws and this heartbreak—and has intensified scrutiny on head coach Abdul Karim Zito and his squad.

Despite entering the match in fifth place with 21 points from 12 games, five points adrift of league leaders Medeama Sporting Club, Kotoko were outplayed on the artificial turf by a spirited Hohoe side that fed off the energy of a raucous home crowd.

This result not only halts Kotoko’s momentum but also piles pressure ahead of their upcoming home clash against Dreams FC, where redemption will be essential.
