The Chief of Wassa Wuratrem, Nana Kwasi Boaban II, has formally appealed to the government to recall the contractor handling the incomplete Wassa Adesu–Afransie–Jukwa–Wuratrem road project, citing persistent delays and poor workmanship.
According to local sources, the road, which serves as a critical link for transportation, commerce, and social activities within the area, has suffered prolonged setbacks, leaving sections incomplete and deteriorating. Nana Kwasi Boaban II described the situation as unacceptable, stressing that the road’s poor state continues to hamper economic activities and negatively affect the daily lives of residents.
In his submission to government authorities, the Wassa Wuratremhene called for the immediate completion and proper maintenance of the road, noting that reliable road infrastructure is essential for boosting trade, improving access to markets, and supporting overall development in the community.
He further urged the government to reform contractor payment systems to reduce the risk of project abandonment. According to him, adopting a phased or milestone-based payment structure would ensure financial accountability, improve contractor commitment, and enhance the timely delivery of public projects.
Nana Kwasi Boaban II also referenced previous government actions in the Western Region, where contracts for stalled projects were terminated, and urged similar decisiveness in addressing the Wassa road. He emphasized that completing critical road infrastructure remains vital to regional economic growth and long-term development.
