WAFU Zone B U-17: Black Maidens Eyes ‘Girls Cup’

Ghana's U-17 girls' national team,the Black Maidens are determined to win the first-ever WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls Cup, set to kick off on Thursday, December 12, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

Manger of the side, Joe Nana Adarkwa has trimmed down his squad size, settling on a list of Twenty (20) players for the championship, after impressive run of friendly games ahead of the competition.

Black Maidens Final Squad

Much motivated Black Maidens drew 0-0 with Rootz Sistaz, recorded 2-0 victory againts FC Epiphany Warriors and finally wrapped up preparations with a 3-0 win against Sissamba Ladies, keeping clean sheets and scoring 5 goals in all three games.

Rootz Sistaz midfield sensation, Christiana Ashiaku, headlines the squad following her heroics in the just-ended CAF schools championship in Niger, emerging as the top scorer and best player in the tournament.

Black Maidens have been drawn against Benin and Burkina Faso (withdrawn) in Group A of the inaugural WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls Cup.

The Championship which will feature Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Nigeria, Niger, and Togo serves a major part of their rebuilding efforts ahead of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
