The Maidens were stunned in the 27th minute of the game thanks to a strike from Yenido Gandonou that gave Benin the lead.
Joe Adarkwa’s girl improved their game after going down in the opening 27minutes and piled constant pressure on their opponent in search of the leveler.
Such press eventually paid off as the Maidens scored twice in eight minutes to overturn the score line to their advantage just before the half time whistle. Gertrude Amofa and Priscilla Mensah the scorers in the 37th and 45th minutes respectively.
Benin resumed the second half with much intent probing for the equalizer but Maidens kept them at bay until the 80th minute when a torn in the flesh for the Maidens’s defense, Yenido Gandonou capitalised on errors at the back to pull parity for Benin —her second on the day.
The hopes of at least salvaging a draw for the Benin was shattered when Gertrude Amofa stroke for her brace in the 84th minute to secure all three points for Ghana.
Here’s how Joe Adarkwa lined up the Maidens against Benin.
The Ghanaians have scored 7 goals and conceded 3 from two games in the competition.
