The manmade problem confronting the country in this difficult time in the political history of Ghana, through the spillage of the Akosombo, Kpong, and Akuse seems to be a failure of the technical hydro engineers at the Volta River Authority.
The architecture hydro plan for the Akosombo dam has three discharges which act as a reservoir from the spillage from the dam.
Hon. Sam Pee Yalley discloses this on Adekyee Mu Nsem’s morning show on Ahotor 92.3 FM in Accra hosted by Citizen Kofi Owusu.
He said the dam was strategically put in place to offer electricity and a constant supply of water for all-year-round irrigation for farming at Accra plains and Akuse state farms. Technically, the Akosombo dam, structural integrity must be protected to forestall the collapse of the dam else Tema Sakumonor and Tema will be gone.
He believes that the VRA is not truthful in all his public statement and education to the communities on the spillage, since the dam is a strategic security asset and the president always have a daily briefing on the dam.
In his opinion, he believes is a political tool by the government to inflict pain on the people of the Volta region.
He opined that, critically examining the comments from President Nana Akufo-Addo on his engagement with affected communities in the Southern part of the Volta region he can conclude that, this is one of the political tools of the New Patriotic Party to preventing them not to voting in the 2024 election.
Recounting the political distractive tools used in the past by the followers of UP its very unfortunate history is still repeating itself where President Nana Akufo-Addo is showing disrespect to the people of the Volta region with his reckless statement.
He recalled that the December 19 District Assembly election coming, how are the affected people with the spillage of the flood going to vote?
He said he is disappointed in the Volta Regional minister, Archibald Letsa to stand low before his people, who are in pain trying to play into the gallery of the president who is full of deception and empty political statements.
