Hon. Cynthia Mamle Morrison, the Member of Parliament for Agona West, has alleged that her colleague from the Efutu constituency, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has paid constituents in her area to switch their votes in his favor.
According to Morrison, Afenyo-Markin offered GHC1,000 to each constituent to encourage them to transfer their votes to Efutu during the recent voter registration exercise.
She claims that this move could significantly impact development in Agona West due to a potential reduction in their voting numbers, which influences government support for community projects.
Morrison, who has recently defected from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to run as an independent candidate, urged traditional leaders and other stakeholders in Agona West to intervene, emphasizing that the constituency’s development depends on maintaining strong voter representation.
